‘Divine Secrets’ by Ahmed Nader Gretly

I once saw a burning demon

Zooming across the night sky,

And I asked myself for what reason

Would the mighty angels kill such creature.

One angel appeared and said with a voice

More powerful than a million golden horns,

And more beautiful than a million harps

That this filthy jinn had been striving to

Eaves-drop upon the pearly gates of heaven

To learn secrets of the divine and holy.

Now whenever I gaze skywards and

See millions of illuminating consolations

Surrounded by a thick bedding of darkness,

I smile to myself for knowing that out there

Angels are watching over heaven,

And Earth.
