‘Parliament, And Other Nasty Smokes’ by Ahmed Nader Gretly

Bushy beard,

no beard,

black veil,

none!

It’s not about the looks, but the soul.

Control, control, control, control.

Power, power, power, power.

You long to save this nation,

And evolve its people?

Then do it from where you stand,

For you don’t have to be in some

Political position to help your fellow man.

Bushy beard,

no beard,

black veil,

none!

It’s not about the looks, but the soul.

Liberation, justification, manipulation?

Are you going to outlaw masturbation?

Let’s preach to illiterates and fools,

Of how we’re the ones who could

Save them from an ultimate demise.

Let’s use sophisticated words to baffle them,

And visions of sufferings only our hands could heal.

Bushy beard,

no beard,

black veil,

none!

It’s not about the looks, but the soul.

You fell over the edge as you walked along

The thin line between charity, and bribery.

Oops! Did I send these poor people food supplies

With my political party’s logo printed on the bags?

My bad, my bad, my bad, my bad.

This was not part of our campaign, no,

My bad!

Bushy beard,

no beard,

black veil,

none!

It’s not about the looks, but the soul.

Salvation, salvation, salvation, salvation.

Who are you to judge this nation?!

Let the word of God guide these people,

Do not put a face on faith,

Do not mix faith with force.

Bushy beard,

no beard,

black veil,

none!

It’s not about the looks, but the heart.
